Welcome to our latest MAGNA-TILES team spotlight. We dive into the career journey of Adam Honn. He transitioned from a Sales Analyst to a National Account Manager.
At MAGNA-TILES, our core value #BetterNeverStops is something we live every day. This applies to our products and our people. We sat down with a team member to learn about their journey. We discussed how their career evolved with the brand.
Q: As part of this MAGNA-TILES team spotlight, can you share a little about your journey at MAGNA-TILES— how you started and what your role has evolved into?
A: I started at MAGNA-TILES in November 2022 after my former employer was executing a corporate relocation. I had just purchased a home with my wife, and I was not interested in leaving Chicagoland. I was lucky enough to receive interest from a recruiter about a Sales Analyst role with a company named MAGNA-TILES.
I was unfamiliar with the brand at the time. It felt like a unique opportunity on a growing team. I came from a Fortune 500 company. The idea of having a measurable impact was very appealing. I announced the role to family and friends. I was shocked by the positive feedback about the product. Everyone with young children loved MAGNA-TILES.
I have been with MAGNA-TILES for 2.5 years. The rapid growth and change have been fun. We nearly doubled our workforce. I watched our sales grow along with our team. I held the Sr. Sales Analyst position for over 2 years. Then, I received a promotion to National Account Manager.
'The office is very close knit. Our People and Culture Team makes MAGNA-TILES a fun place to work. There is a unique balance of chasing success and having fun.'
- Adam Honn
Q: What inspired you to take the leap into your most recent position?
A: I held various Sales Support roles early in my career. I always envisioned growing into Account Management. I often played out how to handle certain scenarios. I became savvy with analytics and reporting in my roles. Everything in my career served as training for now. I worked under some very sharp account managers. Witnessing how they operate was instrumental to my success.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your current role or the team you work with?
A: I have enjoyed the office culture and environment most. This is especially true with our Sales Team. I know our Sales Team culture is genuinely unique. Everyone is pulling on the same end of the rope. We strive for what is best for the brand. We do not just seek individual wins.
Q: Looking back on the past couple of years, what are you most proud of?
A: I instilled confidence in the leadership team. They gave me the chance to manage an essential partner. I am proud to be part of this company. We bring joy and meaningful play to children worldwide. Hearing parents praise MAGNA-TILES is very rewarding.
Q: How would you describe the culture at MAGNA-TILES to someone considering joining the team?
A: I often use the word “special” when speaking about MAGNA-TILES. The office is very close knit. Our People and Culture Team makes it a fun place to work. We balance chasing success with having fun. Two company values come to mind. They are “Think Like a Child” and “The Team, The Team, The Team.”
Q: Which MAGNA-TILES set is your favorite and why?
A: My favorite set is the Downhill Duo 40pc Set. I was uneducated about the brand when I started. A few months later, the Downhill Duo won Toy of the Year. New roles often bring some natural trepidation. This award validated my decision to join MAGNA-TILES.
